Opal Care Guide

Australia’s national gemstone, the magnificent opal, is a beauty destined to be adored by you and to adorn you. When not wearing your opal piece, be sure to store it in its own box away from other jewellery.

Australian Opal, in particular, Queensland Boulder Opal, are the most durable of all opals and measure about 5.5 to 6.5 on the MOHs scale of hardness.

Be sure to wear and enjoy your opal and remember to take it off when doing activities (like gardening or changing a tire) so to avoid damaging or scratching. Australian Opals are formed with water, cut with water and actually enjoy being surrounded by water.

Cleaning Loose Opal;

Gently rub your opal using a soft jewellers cloth, or use warm soapy water to wash and then pat dry using a soft jewellers cloth.

Cleaning Opal Jewellery;

Use an old toothbrush with warm soapy water to gently clean around the stone in the setting and then dry with a soft jeweller's cloth.

Following this beauty routine will ensure a life time of sparkle, rainbow delight and joy!
